Ross just called me at work. After NINE LONG days without air conditioning, the part has FINALLY arrived and it has been fixed. The repair guy received quite the serenade today by several bootiful basset girls. However, we apparently had a one time,roo-almost-to-be performance take place just minutes ago. Ross said they keep singing at the guy as he walks back and forth from his van to the back yard and he heard a little voice he didn't recognize, and realized it was Marley trying to ROOO!!!!! I can't believe I wasn't there to hear that! He said it's not quite there, or polished, but the girl has made a ROO breakthrough solo performance for the morning!

I might start using these to add some relevant comment here. Months ago I purchased a flip-type desktop calendar entitled, "Insight From The Dalai Lama". It's actually very interesting. I'll try to start posting these here daily.

...it's Monday
Our air conditioning went out last week on Thursday, and for those that know me that is NOT good news (chronic allergic rhinitis and sinusitis). My personality and overall demeanor are akin to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyder with air conditioning vs. no air conditioning. Either way, I'm not at all pleasant to be around. Found out this morning that although we're in luck and the air compressor is still under warranty (yeah, that saves at least $1,000) but for the parts and labor to get the new one to work it's going to be $762.00!!! Gee, I feel lucky.....either way, it will be done on Wednesday, but I don't know what hurts more the cost of that or spending a few days in the heat.......

Help Katie Find a Home
My name is Katie. I'm Looking for love, home & a family
Would you be mine and adopt me?

Her name is Katie. She is an 11 yr. old, spayed female, 39 lbs. She appears to be mostly Australian Shepherd, although she is listed as a Mixed Breed. When she was originally posted on the Capital Area Humane Society's (CAHS) (Hilliard, Ohio) Web site, it said that Katie was brought to the humane society because her owner was very ill and could no longer care for Katie.
Katie's updated bio on the CAHS Web site says: "Katie is gentle, well behaved, affectionate & loves people! She is a dream to walk & seems to be housebroken. Katie also knows several commands. If you are looking for a loyal companion who has much love to give, then come see sweet Katie." Katie's ID number at CAHS is: D06-150104. Katie's adoption fee is: $65
CAHS Adoption Process Info:

CAHS Contact Info:

I'm trying to spread the word on Katie's behalf, and hope to draw more attention to her in the process. We're crossing our paws in the hopes that her person-to-be is out there just waiting to be found! (please note that Katie is not in any danger).
I have been a CAHS volunteer since 1995. I have always been an advocate of senior animal adoption and have done so myself on occasions too numerous to count. Kudos to CAHS for allowing dogs like Katie a second chance at a new leash on life! Please feel free to pass this information on to anyone!

Truth is stranger than fiction
Just think, shortly thereafter I got to sing Happy Belated Birthday to another co-worker. They now use something called a "Birthday Box" here to seek contritubtions from staff for these birthday related festivities. A decorated cardboard box with a slot for donations to purchase cake, balloons, flowers, etc. I have made a conscious choice NOT to contribute to this.. As a result I have "kindly" asked the organizer of this brilliant "Birthday Box" idea, to NOT do anything for my birthday this year. Mind you, this place used to actually fund lunch for all staff on each birthday, along with the purchase of a cake/pie which was a nice "perk", that has since been done away with.
Oh, I forgot to mention, the brainchild behind the brilliant "Birthday Box" pheonomena, also happens to be the same individual that put the DHL package out for the post office to pick up..
